Migraine Care as Example of What’s Wrong in American Healthcare

Writer and surgeon Dr. Atul Gawande had an interview on NPR Morning Edition this morning (based on his New Yorker article) about what we can learn from the Cheesecake Factory in delivering better health care in America.  He starts the interview by showing how bad of a disease migraine is but how it is so poorly treated.  There have been standards of care for almost thirty years, but those standards are rarely followed by anyone . . . but headache specialists.  These standards are not that complex but there is some problem in getting other practitioners to follow what we know works bests.  For the full interview click here.
