New Research Links Genetic Flaws for Both Migraine and Seizures

Headache research has taken us a long ways in the past decade. We now think that most common headache types are genetic based and indeed five specific migraine genes have been found so far.  In this study (linked here) for the first time it appears that these same bad genes are found in both seizures and migraines.  This doesn’t mean that if you have migraine that some day you will have seizures.  It does suggest that if you have epilepsy that you have a greater chance of having migraines. But most of all, it sheds a little more light on a possible cure or at least better treatments in the future.
